A Message From The Director

Greetings,

My name is Rev. Dennis D. Jones and I'm the Executive Director of Norma's House.

We take pride in providing love, care, and guidance to the lost, the least, and

the left out, as I was once one of them and somebody had to help me. Today, I go

back to the neighborhood I once was a menace to and do my part to make a difference

in what has been described as a poverty-stricken battleground and a food desert.

There is not one grocery store on Cicero Avenue from Roosevelt Road all the way

down to North Avenue; that's a long stretch of land with just vacant lots, gas stations,

and liquor stores.

Our goal to establish a food pantry in this food dessert; place where

a struggling mother, who has to choose between bus fare to work or buying

groceries, can provide for her family in a healthy and nutritious way; transportation

to take food to the elderly; a shelter for the homeless; a safe haven and mentorship

for the youth; and, a reentry program for those returning from incarceration and

committed to rebuilding the community they once contributed to tearing down.

At Norma's House we do INCREASE THE PEACE Rally's. We go to different

area's and pass out food and water to the entire village and stand in the middle of the

streets with our signs HELP US INCREASE THE PEACE! Today, we finally have

a location-share (Church space) the Chicago Food Depository will begin delivering

food to for Norma’s House to distribute.

Although, it's only a start, where I'm from it's not where you start, it's that you start . . . and that you complete the mission.

We intend to complete this mission began by my Mother, Norma Jones, and the many

other Mothers she represented, and are asking for your support for this mission to be realized.

Thanks so much for being a listening ear.

Faithfully Submitted,
